Tissue Industry

RYECO has a variety of products that have been designed specifically for use in Tissue manufacturing.  These range from special tissue sheet break sensors to specailized markers that are designed to mark specifically on Tissue.  Ultimately, RYECO's products and services are used to increase product quality before it reaches the end customer.  Markers can be used to mark either the edge of a roll, or can be installed in a lane configuration for marking at any location on the width of the web.  Today, Ryeco has numerous Marking and Reading, and Sheet Break Detection Systems to meet nearly any customer's needs in the Tissue industry.

Explore below to learn about how RYECO's Marking and Reading Systems and Sheet Break Detection Systems are being utilized by manufacturers in the Tissue industry.  Ultimately, RYECO's products help customers increase product quality, improve and refine manufacturing processes, reduce unscheduled down-time and increase operating profits.

Marking and Reading Systems

Defect Marking

Defect marking is the simplest and most basic of the marking methods.  A dye mark is placed at each defect location that will require further action in a downstream process.  In Edge Marking applications, the mark is made along the edge of the material and is visible from the end of a completed roll, while lane markers give the flexibility to make marks at any location on the width of the web.

The length and appearance of the dye mark is adjustable according to individual customers' needs.  Multiple dye types are available for marking on both coated and uncoated paper and dyes come in multiple colors, including invisible UV dye.  Depending on individual needs, markers can be placed precisely at the defect or can be placed at a desired distance away from the defect to create a warning of approaching defects for downstream users.  Marks can be human-visible or machine-detectable using RYECO's line of Mark Sensors.

Code Marking and Reading

RYECO also manufactures various Ultra High Speed Code Markers that receive direct control from a customer's quality/process control equipment, such as a web inspection system.  Instead of making defect marks at each defect location, RYECO's system is used to make a lineal code mark on the web.  RYECO's system does not generate the code, nor does it decode the marks; the code simply "passes through" RYECO's system to the marker, where the code is marked on the web.  The quality/process control equipment must send the marker digital pulses that determine the length and frequency of each individual mark in the code mark.  Typically, code marks are used to denote distance on a roll (footage, yardage, meters, etc.), though coded marks can be made for any other code that is required and are commonly adapted to individual customers' needs.

In addition to Code Marking, RYECO's Mark Readers detect the lineal code marks and send a pulse string to a customer's unwind control system.  In this manner, the unwind control system will be automatically stopped during the unwind process when there is defective or off-spec. material present.  RYECO offers a full line of Mark Reading and Mark Verification products to allow cutomers to mark and track defects throughout production and processing.

Sheet Break Detection Systems

System Operation

RYECO offers Sheet Break Detection Systems that are specifically designed for the harsh environment inherent to Tissue manufacturing.  All systems have a small footprint and most can expand from one or two sensors up to twelve depending on individual needs.

In many cases, RYECO's Sheet Break Detection Systems interface with the customer's own process control equipment, though the systems are also designed to operate as stand-alone systems.  RYECO's systems provide a "Sheet On" output when the sheet is detected; when a sheet break occurs, the system generates and outputs a "Sheet Break" signal to the customer's equipment for further processing.  In the event that this isn't possible, RYECO also has systems with integrated PLCs that can provided signal processing prior to output.

In addition to stand-alone Sheet Break Detection systems, RYECO also offers a Tissue Web Break Marking System.  The Tissue Web Break Marking System utilizes RYECO's proven Sheet Break sensors in conjunction with traditional Marking systems to provide a fully integrated and automated means of marking sheet break locations on a Jumbo.  This increases worker safety during the production process and provides downstream workers with a "warning mark" that alerts them of an approaching break during the unwind process.

Sensors

Sensor installation location and size/space limitations are important factors to consider when deciding which Sheet Break Detection System will work best with your manufacturing process.  RYECO has systems designed specifically for use in both open-draw and sheet-on-fabric/felt applications.  In addition, there are numerous sensor options, allowing for sensor installation as close as 4" or as far as 60" from the web.
